Stimulus package. How about a justice package? Someplace back in the Reagan years, the fascist overlords kicked the idea of economic justice right out of our head. Tax the fucking rich. It’s what Willy Sutton said: that’s where the money is. And a good many of them are rich because they are draining the wealth of the country as we speak, so it’s a matter of reclaiming what’s ours in the first place.

The current stimulus package–written, I believe, by Giveaway Don down at Furniture City– is nothing more than a plan by the political class to show that the citizens are just as much whores as the politicos themselves.

If you want to stimulate the economy, build something you want to have, invent something you want. Unless you’re a complete loon, someone else wants something very much like it too. If you want to stimulate the economy with government action, follow the same rule: Build stuff–roads, parks, public buildings, public housing–stuff people want and need.

In the meantime, write your congressfolk and tell them you are not a whore and instruct them to please not enlarge the deficit (otherwise known as our children’s debt) in order to buy your vote next November. If they’ve already voted for it, explain that they have lost your vote forever.
