These streets are made for running around.

News today from the Public Works department, two weeks later: I need to file a request for information with the city Secretary.

Now why didn’t I think of that?

The reason, says Mr. Santiago Navarro, assistant Director of Public Works in charge of streets, is to comply with regulations and to keep track of who is asking what. He puts it much better:

Typically, all requests are handled in this fashion so we can comply with certain state and local requirements when dealing with inquiries. It won’t take too long to receive your response ( I have most of the information ready) and it helps the city keep track of all inquiries so that we can become aware of what concerns our citizens may have. This does help in allowing us to keep track of what works and doesn’t work so that we can find the solution to the problem(s).

So, this afternoon will be blessed by a trip down town to the office of the Secretary of the City who, I believe, has sat at city commission meetings longer than anyone else there.
