Oh, wait. Gene was back in the saddle again. Nevertheless, here we are, returned from many meanderings over the last month: New Castle, Indiana twice once by road, once by air; Dallas by air; San Antonio by road (and beating the frequent flyers there, too). And more is to come–back to Dallas in a couple of weeks and even off to Washington, DC for a Planned Parenthood convention. This is one of the reasons I am hot to recruit some worthy volunteers for the local Planned Parenthood board–so that someone else can do some of the traveling. I do appreciate the opportunities, but they’d be better shared more broadly.
It’s an important organization with an important mission, in my ever so humble opinion, which is why I agreed to join its board last fall after my son, Justin, resigned to go to law school. But it’s going to be better after we broaden its base–and board–so that it’s more reflective of the community it serves.
Then there’s likely to be more travel back to Indiana. I have a son there who’s come out of hiding at long last and who needs some attention.
So, home at last, home at last, but when does the tide go out again? Keep those sails in trim and ready and waiting for the wind.
