I have a bamboo stick,
Call it a walking stick, too.
Protection against dogs
Who close for bites.
But it has baseball-bat qualities,
So I lifted it, and practiced a swing.
The swing was flat, and the “bat” drooped,
And I knew I would never hit a
Major League fastball, any fastball ….
I could and did.
Now, the club
Returned as a cane, and I walked off ….
Slowly, arms and shoulders aching ….

WHO WOULD’VE EVER THOUGHT THAT A BAMBOO WALKING STICK GIVEN AS A GIFT WOULD HAVE INSPIRED A POEM….OUTSTANDING GENE.
