We are pleased to have in our possession “Elmer McCurdy,” an incredible narrative poem by Thomas Thornburg.
Elmer McCurdy was an Oklahoma bad man and train robber who practiced his craft at the turn of the Twentieth Century. He was killed in 1911, but that wasn’t the end of him.

And drawling tendency to be late
Will roll those eyes slowly and die
In an unknown desert from an unseen blow
His fingers itching and his throat gone dry.

Then isn’t he in you?
Eye and skin,
Brain fires raging,
Corpuscles churning,
And why not?
From all the mad swirl of universe
From all the parts of protons
That we will never count
Energy finds energy-
Energy begets energy
And weaves together all you can see
Even that which we call granite,
What we see as fixed
Just a sojourn together [...]
