Bluzanos at Joe’s Bar and Grill tomorrow night

A reminder

It’s been a while since I’ve stopped by, but Gene Novogrodsky has reminded me that there’s good live music to be had Wednesday evenings at Joe’s on the Boulevard. Usually, the music starts up somewhere around nine o’clock and continues until midnight or so. It’s volunteer work and the musicians are doing it for love (although the tip bucket is out), so the schedule flexes as the moment needs it to.

Emilio Crixell’s MySpace page lists himself on vocals and guitar, Tomas Ramirez on saxaphone, Charlie Harrison on bass, and Rudy Roffelsen on drums. I cannot say I’ve heard Mr. Roffelsen before, but I can testify to the energy and creativity of the other players. They can and do all cook, and Joe’s provides the kind of intimate setting where they shine. I do hope that Charlie Harrison gets a moment or two on guitar. He is an excellent bass player, but he also knows his way around six strings, too, and plays with a freedom and creativity and whimsicality not often seen.

I’m going to try to be there even though nighttime excursions are not on my schedule right now due to a health concern. Hope to see you there.
