Thursdays are “Open Mic Nights” at Art Expressions in the McAllen Arts District.

What could be cooler than “Captain Crab and the Clean Beach Patrol” puppet show on Thursday night at Quinta Mazatlan?  But, if you find yourself in Brownsville, the event to attend would be “La Labor: the Paintings of Roel Flores” opening and reception at the Brownsville Heritage center.

However, if you like film noire, (and who doesn’t) join with Tom Fuschetto at STC’s Pecan Campus on Thursday and Friday nights at 7 pm as WILD (Writers in Literary Discussion) hosts its second annual Film Noir Festival.

“Project Insight” at El Rocio in Mission will host a week-long Camp for “Teen Moms” beginning Monday.  Irma Burr will conduct a “Girl Power” workshop on Monday morning at the McAllen Creative Incubator.

That multi-talented Carl Westweber will teach a “Draw Your Own Comics” class at Manichaus on Monday afternoon.

A yoga for kids workshop will be hosted Tuesday - Friday by Brownsville Museum of Fine Art.

Tuesdays are “Spoken Word Nights” at Art Expressions.  And if you are in the mood for ice cream, catch a couple of hours of live music at Ben and Jerry’s at Palms Crossing, adjoining McAllen Convention Center.
