6 21 08 p.m. …went to the West Brownsville Association meeting in the Villa Maria Restaurant Saturday about the West Loop Toll Road proposal (when the railroad is relocated) …and was encouraged that, perhaps, only three or four people of the nearly 100 in the restaurant wanted the road, any road …and ideas like rail, walking, birding, cycling, leaving for work early, fixing existing roads, roads in other locations …were popular ….

…could be the start of thoughtful growth, wise mobility, greening of the city, particularly West Brownsville …and was impressed how many people spoke fondly of West Brownsville, a relative slice of tranquility and a lot of shade in a busy Deep South Texas ….

The engineers from Cameron County said that “no build” was still an option …and many residents said they want to keep the “no build” pressure on the county …and while they do that, they should encouage the county to better utilize the engineers’ ample talents ….

Design and plan for a better planet!

Be a model of hope, not waste and foolishness and destruction!

Go down in history, county officials, as visionaries, not advocates of the same-old, same-old ….
