From Gene’s Notebook
…along 281, one of my favorite roads, highway of dreams and development and movement, I love it ….
…linemen stringing power lines for BISD High School Six, and I stop and say, “Hey! US electric needs will double in 20 years! Will there be enough power?”
A lineman, he on the ground, says, “Sure! Wind and sun and nuclear. For sure!”
I say, “So my lights won’t be blinking in 20 years?”
He says, “Again. I already told you. For sure there will be power.” He’s lost patience with me, and lunch is near.
He turns to supervise men up on the poles and others on the ground.
I look down and bend to pick up a four-foor rattlesnake-shed skin, but it’s only some industrial strapping, for sure ….
