Movies in McAllen’s Archer Park

June 30th, 2008 · No Comments

An announcement

Movie-goers are encouraged to bring their lawn chairs or quilts, picnic basket and their family and enjoy a bit of nostalgia at an old fashioned outdoor movie in Archer Park on Saturday, June 28 at 8:45 pm.  And the film is admission free.  One of America’s most majestic films will be shown. It is something about a phantom.  Or was it about an opera?  Can you guess the film?  Anyway, if we are lucky, fireflies will give their own lighting show.

The Parks and Recreation Department’s new 20 foot high inflatable movie screen, new digital projector and new sound system makes the evening very enjoyable. Surprisingly, the evenings in Archer Park in McAllen are quite pleasant with a southeasterly breeze carrying the scent of popcorn through the air. The ambiance of the old drive-in movie theater in a palm-studded urban setting is sure to bring back memories to the seasoned citizen —— and build new memories for those not so seasoned.
