An announcement from Virginia Gause

University Theatre Productions, at The University of Texas Pan American, has just scheduled auditions for the two upcoming Pan American Summer Stock productions.  The auditions will be held in the Studio Theatre, CAS 107 in the Communication Arts Building on campus. All auditions begin at 7 PM.

Auditions for Cahoots, a farcical comedy about an accidental murder and the participants inept attempts to cover it up will be held July 10 at 7 PM. If the auditioner has a conflict on July 10, he or she can also come on July 11 when call backs are scheduled.

Ronnie Navarro is serving as director of this production. The play will be performed in the Albert L. Jeffers Theatre July 31 through August 2 at 8 PM and August 3 at 2 PM.

Sylvia, by A. R. Gurney will hold auditions on Monday July 14, with call-backs and conflicts scheduled for July 15. Brian Warren is directing this warm, clever comedy about a man whose relationship with his dog is one of mutual adoration. In this play, we get to hear the dog’s thoughts as she shows what a true best friend is like. That play runs August 7-10 in the Albert L. Jeffers Theatre.

Perusal scripts are available by calling the box office at 956-381-3581. They can be borrowed for reading purposes for 48 hours for a ten dollar refundable deposit. “We don’t want the money; we really need the scripts back,” explained Box Office Supervisor Elva Galvan.

Both plays require men and women of college age or above. There are no parts for youngsters in either production. Students may enroll in the course, Summer Theatre Workshop, under one of three different course numbers if they wish to receive college credit. The class is available as COMM 1615, 4615 or 5615. For information about the course, students may call Tom Grabowski, the teacher of record for the class, at 381-3588.
