If I were Dr. Seuss and wrote children’s books, I would get Carl Vestweber to illustrate them.  So when I heard Carl was having his first solo show “New Stuff by Carl Vestweber” at Manichaus on Friday, July 11, I cancelled all my other social plans to be there.

If you are a big jazz fan, catch The Frontera Jazz Quartet at Shine in McAllen on Wednesdays, the Frontera Jazz Quartet at Tre Fratelli in Brownsville on Thursdays and the Frontera Jazz Duo at The Venetian in McAllen on Fridays.

Don’t miss Saturday in the Park on July 12 at Hidalgo Pumphouse Museum and World Birding Center.  And the Upper Valley Art League in Mission has a special opening planned for July 12.

The energetic Poet Mariachi (Daniel Garcia Ordaz) will be springing all over the various STC campuses this week, passing the mike to other Valley poets.  And some from out of the Valley could show up too!

A KidsArt summer camp and some other art adventures are taking place in Harlingen this week.  UTB/TSC is holding some music summer camps on Monday, the same day the Tex-Mex photography exhibit opens there.

Looking ahead to next week…I see concerts by Raven Symone sponsored at Dodge by the Discovery School in Edinburg and Ryan Walker at Cine El Rey.  The Beachcomber show will be coming up at South Padre Island the last weekend this month.
