The Ticketlady

August 20th, 2008 · No Comments

A poem by Thomas Thornburg from Munseetown

on sunny days she flaunts a fine
joie de vivre in the dance
she dances handing tickets out like kisses
to dumb cars in a steel stagline
a sexy blue insouciance
she is the TICKETLADY

but when it snows she never shows
she does not want to dent her bouffant
and never never in the rain
she’s no plainjane
she is the TICKETLADY

daydrinkers in the downtown bars
glugging a brewski for the ditch
sigh as she goes her gambol by
and say I hate that woman
