This week in the Arts includes the grand opening of Grand Opening Art Expressions and UTA Art Co-op on Friday at 4:30 pm. It is going to be a night to remember in the McAllen Arts District.

Upper Valley Art League in Mission features a Benjamin Varela exhibit on Saturday night at 6 pm. At the same time in Harlingen is the final Blues on the Hill for this season. And at 7 pm the final concert of UTPA Summerfest 2008 will be held.

She Loves Me musical auditions will be held Monday and Tuesday evenings at UTPA. If you saw the movie, You’ve Got Mail, then you are familiar with the play.

Tuesday is the opening of the Lisette Chavez exhibit at Harlingen Arts & Heritage Museum.

Sprinkled thoughout the week are some wonderful end of the summer events for children and youth at Palm View Branch Library.

On Wednesday the Mexican Consulate features an exhibit of the work of Joaquin Garcoa Quintana in his 20th anniversary exhibit at Brownsville Museum of Fine Art.

Monday, August 25, will find many of us back in school! Great things are in store for the Arts this fall. Get ready for the First Friday ArtWalk in McAllen on September 5. Pedro Ayala from PGA is looking for sculptors and other artists, photographers, digital artist and media architecture for a Contemporary Art Exhibit at The Atrium in McAllen to open on September 5.
