15th Annual CineSol Film Festival kicks off August 29th

The month-long 15th Annual CineSol Film Festival kicks off Labor Day Weekend on Friday, August 29th!

Registration for the 3rd Annual 36 Hour Film Race starts Friday, August 29th @ 6pm @ Postal Productions, 1221 W. Monroe in Harlingen.

Mandatory elements for the films will be announced at the offset of the race.  These are GENRE, LOCATION, A PROP, A CHARACTER and A LINE OF DIALOGUE that all teams must incorporate into their 10 minute films. Teams have 36 hours to write, shoot and edit. Teams can still show up and register. The Race begins once all teams have registered!

Saturday, September 6th @ 7pm @ Cine El Rey in McAllen.

We will watch all the 36 Hour Film Race entries. The judges will vote on Best Actor, Best Actress, Best Special Effects, Best Editing, Best Original Score, Best Director and Audience Favorite. They will also pick 1st, 2nd and 3rd Place with the teams winning a combination of cash and prizes.

Opening Weekend is Friday, September 12th through Sunday September 14th @ Cine El Rey in McAllen.

A marathon of films will be shown practically non-stop!  We will have 7 local directors in attendance discussing their films!

Friday, September 12th @ 7pm. Cover Charge is $20 for the whole evening.

We will have special guests, reception, and local directors in attendance.

Saturday, September 13th from 11am -11pm. $30 All Day ticket. Or $5 per film before 7pm. Or $20 after 7pm which includes reception and special guests.

“This is Toni Hudson” director Enrique Leal

“Epicenter” director Eduardo Rivas

“El Taxista” Luis Robledo

“Sen5es” director Fernando Martinez, cast and crew

Sunday, September 14th from 11am-7pm.  $20 All Day ticket. Or $5 per film.

Special guests include:

“A Year in the South Texas Wildlands” director Richard Moore

“Mark’d” director Ali Naqvi, cast and crew

Tuesday, September 16th – Thursday, September 18th @ the UTB/TSC Gran Salon @ the Student Union Building @ 6:30pm.

Monday, September 22nd & Tuesday, September 23rd @ UTPA Student Union Theater @ 7pm.
