MCALLEN, TX—The 1st Friday of September (September 5th) marks the beginning of this year’s Music Afterhours Outdoor Concert Series. This “unplugged show” features acoustic acts by Stephanie Celest, Carlos Cantu, Adam Wratten, Iliad & The Beast, and Single Fin. The show begins at 7pm and will be held at Archer Park.
Music Afterhours is held twice a month: the first Friday is held at Archer Park in conjunction with ArtWalk. The third Friday of the month Music Afterhours is held at the McAllen Convention Center Reflection Pool. Various styles of music are featured at the outdoor concert series to appeal to different generations attending. “Music Afterhours usually begins in October, but we wanted to have a special ‘unplugged show’ in September when ArtWalk begins,” said Annabell Cortina, Special Events and Media Coordinator for the McAllen Chamber of Commerce. “All are welcomed to join us every first and third Friday of the month. We have a great line-up for the coming year featuring a variety of musical genres. This is definitely a family event and for people of all ages; this is a wonderful opportunity for the community to come together to enjoy music and art,” said Cortina.
The next Music Afterhours concert will be held October 3rd at Archer Park. Music Afterhours is free and open to the public and will showcase artists from around the Valley. All shows will begin at 7pm. Limited seating will be available, although everyone is encouraged to bring their blankets and coolers to relax and enjoy the show.
