Django’s still on our minds

A direction from Stan

Go to the NPR site and listen to the little collection of Hot Club jazz a la Django (including a Django with Grapelli and a Grapelli with Grapelli!). Don’t, especially, skip “It Don’t Mean a Thing.”

Thanks for the introduction. I especially liked Minor Swing.

I’m glad you liked it. And Minor Swing’s the one that’s actually by Django. It’s a great style and I’m glad people are keeping it going. My grandfather gave me an LP of Reinhart’s music when he heard that I wasn’t going to give up guitars after all. Apparently he’d been a fan in his youth. He was a young man in the Twenties and Thirties when Reinhart came up and I’m sure Grampa thought of himself as hip. I was impressed with the music although I thought immediately that I’d never be able to get that good.
