An announcement
The new RGV Film Commission announces the publication of its new website www.rgvfilmcommission.com.
“We’ve been working on the site for quite a while,” said Nancy Millar. Millar is chair of the RGV Film Commission and Vice President of the McAllen Chamber of Commerce’s Convention and Visitors’ Bureau.
“We believe that the website will create new opportunities for artists in the Rio Grande Valley by giving them more rapid information about upcoming films, workshops and other events.”
The mission of the RGV Film Commission is to create new jobs and increase the economic vitality of the region by developing a profitable film industry, Millar said. This is accomplished by positioning the region to attract and assist studio and independent features, print, television, new media, short films, student projects, and television advertising to the Rio Grande Valley, by providing technical, location and talent guidance, referrals, and networking opportunities.
Within the site, producers can view a contact sheet with actors and actresses from the Rio Grande Valley, as well as potential locations for filming.
The public can also become site members at no cost, opening up opportunities to network and keep up with news events about film festivals, casting calls, and more.
“Filming in the Rio Grande Valley provides an array of scenic variations and a chance to capture a unique culture,” said Millar, “This website will help us display all that we have to offer for filmmakers.”
