We're buttoned up for the storm here at the moment, so maybe I can make a rough cut of the song. I had cut one a few years ago, but it was too rough.

We second that motion. Let us hear it, Stan! And then head out for Montana, where we've just got power back after a storm that left the ground white (with hail). A little pile of it still in the corner of the front porch. Have to close the windows & turn on the heater.... ha ha ha ha ha.

i like this, Stan. I have read Campbell and the Life of Pi and sometimes, it's nice to just let it all gel into something as simple as chopping wood, carrying water and one hand clapping.

7 7 08 p.m. Lady Mariposa is cool; watch her hands move as she reads; she's real, a leader in the Western Valley School Of Poetry, cooler than the Eastern Valley School Of Poetry to which I belong - so if in the area, go see and hear her ....

...relocation of the railroad has been in the works for years....too many for me to remember.....no telling how many more years before actual relocation takes place. Lets do something as has been suggested once relocation takes place....bike/hiking trail to link up to existing linear trail...something that at least some of us my age can enjoy for the next 25 or 30 years...again that depends on how long before relocation of said railroad. Thanks Gene for bring up these "common' sense ideas that might keep brownsvillians happy and healthy for years to come....even after we are gone.

6 21 08 p.m. ...went to the West Brownsville Association meeting in the Villa Maria Restaurant Saturday about the West Loop Toll Road proposal (when the railroad is relocated) ...and was encouraged that, perhaps, only three or four people of the nearly 100 in the restaurant wanted the road, any road ...and ideas like rail, walking, birding, cycling, leaving for work early, fixing existing roads, roads in other locations ...were popular ....

...could be the start of thoughtful growth, wise mobility, greening of the city, particularly West Brownsville ...and was impressed how many people spoke fondly of West Brownsville, a relative slice of tranquility and a lot of shade in a busy Deep South Texas ....

The engineers from Cameron County said that "no build" was still an option ...and many residents said they want to keep the "no build" pressure on the county ...and while they do that, they should encouage the county to better utilize the engineers' ample talents ....

Design and plan for a better planet!

Be a model of hope, not waste and foolishness and destruction!

Go down in history, county officials, as visionaries, not advocates of the same-old, same-old ....

6 19 08 hot hot afternoon ...have read about the cars and gas and the West Loop plan - meeting Saturday at 11:30 a.m. at the Villa Maria restaurant on West Elizabeth to discuss plan to make the railroad bed, when abandoned, a toll road!

As for cars and such, fix the existing roads and drive slowly and carpool and leave early for destinations ...and let gas go to seven or eight dollars a galon, with special prices - lower - for small farmers, essential transport and low-paid workers ....

I fear I am become pathological is my aversion to cars. I might be tipping into the abyss ....

Rant concluded!

I know! The "elitist" charge is coming .... Try artifact, dinosaur, old fart ....
